The problem is with what RHEL did to /etc/issue. From the startup output:

What is happening is that the 5.3 version number in /etc/issue is causing our startup script to kick in a setting meant for RHEL 3.0. For now, the easiest fix is to edit your /etc/issue and change "5.3" to something like "5 SP3" or just "5" and then our startup script will not see the 3 and so will not set LD_ASSUME_KERNEL which is what I believe is causing your problem. So, please make this change and let me know how it goes.

Conversely, if you do not want to edit /etc/issue you can edit our startup script and remove or comment out the code segment which sets LD_ASSUME_KERNEL, whichever is easier for you. Since we do not support RHEL 3.0 with this version of Domino this is code we need to remove :)
